You should sell that...NOT

That's kind-of a running gag on Ravelry!
I knit for knit worthy people.  If you're knit worthy and have a special event (Bday, Xmas or such) or are going through a rough time, you may get one of my knits.

I have, however, sold a piece or 2...
A couple of years ago I made matching pumpkin hats for a friend at work who's wife just had a baby.  They loved them.  And one of their relatives went crazy for them.  I was asked if I could make 2 toddler sized ones to sell to them.  I did.  I let them know that it cost $10 in yard...so they gave me $20.  I'll have to find a picture of the one I made Frannie.

During my last show (How To Succeed In Business) I brought in a bunch of my hats to show off.  People had admired my Viking helmet so...  One of the gals asked me if I would make her a black cat hat.  She paid for the yarn and I knitted it up backstage during my off time.  She loved it!  Here she is modeling it for me.

She was very excited about it!  That makes her definitely knit-worthy!  Plus, she just looks so darn cute in it!  :)

Slouchy Hat

I made my first slouchy hat last weekend.  A fun and easy pattern called "Super easy chunky barret" from ravelry.com.
I usually have a hat when we go to the family cabin.  But I couldn't find it.  So while we were there I knitted this hat up.  I had this yarn for ages.  Love the color!  But it has so much texture that you can't really see the stiching.  I had originally bought it to make a "Gaptastic Cowl" (also from ravelry.com) for my sister.  Here's mine in white.

Easter knitting

Since we just celebrated Easter I will share my Easter Creations.  These are the 2 Peeps that I made.  I started one in some pink that I had but it seemed to want to be a bunny instead of a chick so, of course, I had to find my leftover white yarn and make a white chick.  These are some of my first "softies" that I've made.  Tricky joining the rounds on the double point needles but then it's just fun!

Here are some finger puppets I did too.  The white one was supposed to be a lamb, but I think it looks more like a panda bear.

Bearded Hats

Today's featured photo is a couple of bearded hats that I made for Kimmy and Michael for our birthdays.  Kimmy had decided that we should have a mustache them and I found this pattern.  What a hoot!!
I'll be pulling this pattern out for Movember too!!

Kitchen towel swap

One more post for today...

Currently I am working on a couple of kitchen towels for a kitchen towel swap that I signed up for.  I've never done one of the swaps before and it sounds like fun.
Everyone that signs up makes a kitchen towel to mail to 2 people that they are assigned.  Then you wait for kitchen towels to come to you from strangers in the mail.

Sounds like fun.  The patterns are fun.  Different from what I have been doing since there's a 3 to 4 row pattern.  I have to pay attention.  And they seem to be turning out nice.

I even found some cotton yarn in the colors of my Mom's kitchen so I'm going to make her some too.  Maybe my sister too.  I wonder what her kitchen colors are?

Princess Leia Hat

I made a Princess Leia hat for my daughter, Frances.  She thinks it's fun.
I've gotten a lot of complements on this one!! Frannie wore it when we went to see Star Wars, the Phantom Menace, when it came out recently. If I did work on commission I'd be busy for months!

It's just a simple K1, P1 brown stocking cap.  Then I made long snakelike tubs, stuffed them, rolled them into "cinnamon buns" and sewed them on the sides.

A good friend of mine, and fellow Star Wars fan, has been going through a real rough time lately.  So, I knitted her up one of these and dropped it in the mail to cheer her up.  It worked!...except her daughter has stolen it.  She even sleeps in it, I'm told.  Her birthday is in August so I know what she'll be getting!

I should try to get her to send a picture to me.  Hers turned out much better.  I used a smaller needle to knit the buns so you can't see the stuffing.

Getting Started

Here I go into the wonderful blogging world!

I'm a long time crafter and am addicted to knitting right now.  Friends keep telling me that I should really sell my stuff.  But I don't know.  I really just love knitting.  I'm afraid that if I did it for money it would become a job rather than a joy.  Besides, knitting is not the cheapest thing to do.  With the cost of yarn and all the time it takes to do it a simple hat could run $10-30 in yarn and then take 4-12 hours or more to knit making it rather expensive.

So, if you love my stuff and I love you then let me know just what you like and when your birthday is or when you really need a pick me up or something and you may get lucky!!  I've also been known to knit something up for the cost of yarn for folks I like too.
I may just make something for a charity event or auction at times too.  For instance, my church is having an auction in June.  I'm sure I'll knit something up for them.  I also have a friend that is going through a medical mystery right now.  I may donate some stuff, or my knitting time, for fund raising for her.  Keep a look out!  (I'll be sure to post these type of events on facebook too)

But for now I craft for fun and family!

I'm going to take some time now to post some pictures of things I'm proud of that I've made in the past and what I'm currently working on too.

OH!  The profile picture is of me in my Val, the Valkyrie hat that I knitted for myself.  I just LOVE it!
